The Rotary Club of Chester is a dedicated group of business owners and neighbors, operating as a small but mighty team with a big heart for our mountain community. As part of District 5190, we are committed to supporting and promoting the greater Lake Almanor Basin (LAB) through hands-on service and fellowship. Guided by the Rotary motto of Service Above Self, our members work together to support local initiatives and regional tourism. We foster a welcoming atmosphere to everyone who enjoys our shores through helping with local events, championing community projects, and supporting the Pacific Crest Trail hikers each summer. The Rotary Club of Chester takes pride in making a positive, lasting impact right here at home.

This directory lists Lake Almanor Basin eateries, shops, businesses, and trail angels that support PCT hikers, and will be made available to these hikers. 

If your business directly supports PCT hikers, boost your business and complete this form to help make Chester the best halfway trail town on the map!

If you are a trail angel, list yourself as a trail angel in our hiker directory. Your name and contact information (cell, email, and/or DM, etc.) will be listed for hikers to contact directly so you can share your magic.

Rotary Trail Angel BBQ
The quiet tranquility around Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) Highway 36 trailhead was shattered — in the best way possible — as the Rotary Club of Chester fired up the grills for their legendary Trail Angel Barbecue. On Tuesday, July 14, from 10:00am- 2:00pm, 50 weary, dirt-covered hikers descended on the trailhead for a hard-earned feast. The event was hosted by Rotary Club Member Terry Johnson and member Tyson Graham flipped burgers with finesse.

Memorial Weekend Craft Fair

A Memorial Day weekend tradition, the craft fair held over Memorial Day weekend is always a draw for locals and visitors alike. Guests were able to browse and support local crafters while enjoying delicious food, specialty popcorn, snow cones, and one-of-a-kind crafts.

Mother & Son Ball
The Mother & Son Ball is a tribute to those women who proudly present their sons to the world with love, support, and guidance. What an unforgettable evening witnessing these mother and son bonds flourish, filled with joy and love. We're already eagerly anticipating the magic of next year! Heartfelt gratitude to all who attended. Special thanks to Elegant Farmer for the lovely venue and tasty cuisine by Cowboy Joe.
Father Daughter Dinner Dance
The Father Daughter Dinner Dance was a smashing success! Great music, proud papas, happy pricnesses, dancing, and painted fingernails…. This event had it all!
